Queens Pageants

2660copy.jpg (18155 bytes)The Queens Pageant has been around since 1955. Vera Towers is the Wonder Woman behind it all. Vera used to watch the girls through her window. She noticed they had no pride or confidence in themselves. As a result, in 1955, she organized a group to help these young people.

It wasn't until 1962 that the real pageant began, when the first Queen was crowned in a one day event. In 1969 another program was announced, but it still remained a one day event.

In the 1970's the program expanded into a seven month period. A committee was organized, rules were set and there were duties to be fulfilled. Nowadays the program has changed considerably. A new committee has been formed, and new rules set.
