- June 22, 1919
- Captain J. C. Cummings paid a trip of inspection to the
Enderby Cadet Corps. Cadet Master Keatley was commended for their smart turnout and
efficient drilling.
- March 9, 1922 ~ Worthy Organization Developing a Stronger Manhood in
Our Boys
- There has been established in Enderby in recent months,
under the leadership of Mr. Keatly, principal of the high school, a corps of cadets with
an enrolment of 40.

- March 18, 1926
- A business meeting of the Enderby Cadet Corps and the Cadet
Committee and Sergent Bogert is called. The agenda includes the reorganization and future
courses.
- March 18, 1950 ~ Mayor Johnson Takes Salute at Inspection
- Annual inspection of Enderby Cadet Corp No. 2365 took place
on the school ground. The inspecting officer was Lieutenant A.V. Stoppa. District Officer,
Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps, assisted by Sgt. Bates, District Cadet instructor.
Officers of this unit include: Chief Instructor, Capt. C.R. O'Connor; P.T. Instructor, Mr.
F. Cunnings; Medical Officer, Dr. J.H. Kope.
Total strength is 28 cadets
- June 15, 1951 ~ Enderby Cadet Corps Reviewed In Parade
- The second annual inspection ceremonial parade and march
past of the Enderby Cadet Corps was held at the school grounds. Some 60 cadets
participated including the newly formed girl cadets.
The salute and march past was taken by His Worship Mayor N.S. Johnson. Others to review
the ceremonial parade were Capt. A.V. Stoppa, Cadet Training Officer of Vernon; F.O.
Williams of the R.C.A.F. recruiting division; Sgt. Smaha representing the local platoon
R.M.R.'s; Sgt. Bates, Cadet Instructor, BC area, Vernon; Mr. A.H. Woodley, Secretary
Enderby Branch Canadian Legion, and Mr. Ian Thompson, President, Enderby Branch Canadian
Legion, also Cpl. Wm. Drysdale, R.C.M.P.
- May 23, 1952 ~ Enderby Cadets Receive Praise In Inspection
- The annual ceremonial march past of the Enderby Cadets was
held for Lieut. Hobbs, Cadet Training officer of Vernon, Sgt.-Major Shone of Vancouver,
His Worship Mayor N.S. Johnson and the chief instructor here Capt. C.O. O'Connor. Thirty
five cadets under Cdt. Capt. Bert Dill and eight girls under Cdt. Skelly were on parade.
- July 24, 1953
- Cadets Baird Palmer, Ronnie Samol, Gordon Simpson, Willie
Thomas write home from Vernon Summer Cadet Camp telling a story of rigid training and
pleasant group activities. Their main dislike is doing their laundry and draping it over
window sills and fences.
- March 12, 1954 ~ Enderby Cadets Parade Before Area Cadet Officer
- Captain Hobbs, No. 2 Area Cadet Officer, in the absence of
Capt. MacMillan, inspected Enderby No. 2365 Cadet Corps as they paraded in the Armouries.
Total strength was 31 cadets. Following inspection and roll call the Corps split up into
groups; range practice, lectures, elementary Judo and drill on the light machine gun.
- March 12, 1954 ~ Ground Observer Corp In Practice Air Raid
- A mock air attack of two aircraft over Enderby of a Canso
flying boat and a jet was coordinated in Vancouver. No. 2365 Enderby Cadets Corps, under
the command of Mr. Salt, ground control officer, used wireless sets as a means of
communication between observation points set up by the railway tracks and a central
control post in the fire hall. Cadet personnel worked closely through Vancouver with other
interior cities to set up a warning system for approach of enemy aircraft.
- May 21, 1954 ~ Major George Inspects Enderby Cadet Corps
- Major George, the senior Officer in charge of Cadets in
Western Command inspected members of No. 2365 Enderby Cadet Corps. Total strength was 30
cadets. Demonstrations of Judo, wireless and Bren gun were given. Theses exercises were
witnessed by the entire high school population and a fair showing of interested citizens.
- June 4, 1954 ~ Bayard Palmer Top Contender at Rifle Shoot
- Bayard came first in the cadet class in the 200 yards open
for the Price Ellison Cup with 47 points. In the 200 yards open for the Irish Lake and
Summerland Cup Bayard took second prize in the cadet class with 43 points. In the 500
yards open for the Borne McPherson Memorial Trophy, he placed second in the cadet class
with 47 points. In the 600 yards open for the Kamloops cup he came in third with 39
points. Shooting as a member of the Vernon Club with a cadet, Harold Palmer and Bayard
Palmer carried the class with 527 points. In local competition with the Enderby School
Cadets, Bayard won the Legion Challenge Cup for the best shot, and also a silver spoon.
- July 30, 1954
- Cadet Corporal Bayard Palmer tied first place in the annual
Rifle shoot at Summerland Club. Barard was in competition with eighteen cadets from Camp
at Vernon.

- Enderby cadets attending summer camp in Vernon are Bayard
Palmer, Gordon Simpson, Willie Feser, Toni Kohlman, Ronnie Samol, Norman Thomas and Barry
Gerlib.
- January 7, 1955 ~ Enderby Cadet Corp Receives Award For Proficiency
- Enderby High School has won an award of $25.00 for Cadet
Proficiency for the school year 1953-54. Enderby Cadets placed third in the province. The
money will be used by the Corp to purchase various items of uniform not on general issue
to Cadets. Sponsor of the Cadets during the period for which the award was made was the
School Board of this District.

- June 6, 1955 ~ Local Cadets to Attend Summer Training Camp
- Members of the "D" Company Rocky Mountain Rangers
(Enderby) Cadet Corps going to camp are Ronald Samol, Richard Rahan, Bayard Palmer, Norman
Thomas, Frank Wernick, GordonWoods, Alvin Byrnand and Mervin McGregor.
- July 1, 1955 ~ Division Commander Presents Awards to Enderby Cadets
- Lieutenant-Colonel J.W. McGowan, Officer Commanding the
Kamloops division of the R.M.R.s presented Cadet Captain Terry O'Conner with the cup for
the most efficient cadet. First class shooting awards were presented to E. Halvoson, B.
Gerlib, G. Hill, M. McGregoe and N. Thomas. Other shooting awards were also made including
the Marksman Badge for an average of 90 to 94 points to John Cross, Tony Kohlman and Hugh
Woolam. Bayard Palmer with an average of 97 received the Expert Badge. Capt. J.H. Palmer
qualified for the Distinguished Marksman Badge with an average of 98.7.
- July 22, 1955 ~ Local Militia Members at Summer Training Camp
- Enderby cadets participate in Summer Training Camp at Sarcee
Alberta in the biggest post-war concentration of Militia soldiers in Western Canada. More
than 1200 citizens from many BC communities participated from Prince George, Kamloops,
Salmon Arm, Chase, Revelstoke, Armstrong and Lytton to name just a few.
- July 29, 1955 ~ Five Local Cadets Training at Vernon
- 80 Cadet Corps are represented at Vernon Army Cadet Summer
Training Camp from all over BC and Alberta. 600 Cadets trained in two main categories.
These are the Senior Leaders' Wing, training more than 400 boys as instructors in infantry
subjects for their own corps: and th "D&M" Wing, training 200 youngsters in
driving and maintenance of three-ton Army trucks. Other boys are training as rifle
coarches. The following local boys attended; C/Cpl. Bayard Palmer; C/Cpl. Ronald Samol;
Cadet Richard Rahan; Cadet Frank Wenick; Cadet Gordon Woods.
- December 2, 1955 ~ Enderby Cadet Corp Wins Provincial Rifle Competition
- Six members of the Enderby RMR Cadet Corps won the
provincial Strathcona trophy. The team members are:
Cpl. Bayard Palmer - 185 points
Sgt. Tony Kohlman - 184 points
Cdt. Gordon Woods - 180 points
Cdt. Hugh Woollam - 178 points
S/M Norman Thomas - 177 points
Cdt. John Cross - 172
for a total of 1076 points. The Canadian Scottish Regiment Cadet Corps of Port Alberni
came second with 1033 points.
- March 2, 1956 ~ Enderby Cadets Receive Awards at Special Inspection
- 90 "D" Company Rocky Mountain Rangers, Armstrong
and Enderby cadets were inspected by Lt.-Col. J. McGowan, Commanding officer of the
R.M.R.s followed by the 26 member RMR Headquarters Band from Kamloops.
- March 9, 1956 ~ Enderby Cadets Hold Inspection
- A number of interested guests and parents attended a special
inspection of the Enderby Cadet Corps. Following the inspection a number of articles of
army equipment were on display with the cadets explaining their operation and use. Parents
were then invited to visit the shooting range in the basement where several tried their
luck.
- March 23, 1956 ~ Local Cadet Corps Score New Honors
- The Enderby RMR Cadet Corps placed second in the province
wide shooting competition for the I.O.D.E. Challenge Cup.

- May 25, 1956 ~ Enderby Cadets are Inspected
- Col. A. McGowan assisted by Capt. H.R. McMillan inspected
the Enderby R.M.R.Cadet Corps at the Armories. Cdt. Cpl. Alvin Byrnand was winner of a cup
presented by Col. McGowna for the most efficient cadet of the year, and Cadet Joe Thomas
received a lanyard for being the best first year cadet.
- January 25, 1957 ~ Enderby Cadets Win Strathcona Shield Again
- The Strathcona shield for marksmanship has come to Enderby
Cadet Corps for the second consecutive year. The winning Interior team consisted of:

Cadet Sgt. T. Kohlman
Cadet K. Clark
Cadet W. Keen
Cadet H. Woollam
Cadet Staff-Sergent B. Palmer won the highest individual score and five of the team
received medals for being in the top fifteen in the Interior division.
- March 8, 1957 ~ Enderby Cadet Corps Wins I.O.D.E. Challenge Cup
- The Enderby RM.R. Cadet Corps won the I.O.D.E. Challenge Cup
for the BC Area. Their score was 753 on eight targets.
4th Light Anti Aircraft Battery Cadet Corps - 736 points
St. Georges Lytton R.M.R. Cadet Crops - 735 points
B.C.R. Duke of Connaught's Own 13th Armoured Regiment Cadet Corps - 735 points
The Irish Fuseliers Cadet Corps of Vancouver - 731 points
remaining teams scores down to 500 points. Ninteen teams competed altogether.

- May 31, 1957 ~ Lt. Col. MacGowan Conducts Inspection Local Cadet
Corps
- The local Cadet Corps, 2365 R.M.R. received their annual
inspection last week. Lt. Col. J.A. MacGowan, Commanding Officer RM.R.s Kamloops assisted
by Capt. Davies, BC Area Cadet Officer of Vancouiver, Lt. Hobbs, Area Cadet Officer of
Vernon and Sgt. Copley, also of Vancouver presented Cdt. Lt. Ron Samol with the cup as the
most valuable member of his corp.
- October 18, 1957 ~ Enderby R.M.R. Cadets High Scoring Marksmen
- The 1956 Youth of the Empire Competition showed the local
Corp. gaining first place in BC and 23rd place in the whole of Canada. A silver
medal was awarded Cadet K. Clark who earned this with a score of 100, and the bronze medal
went to Lt. R. Samol for a score of 99.
Empire Marksman badges were awarded to cadets Clark, Samol, Palmer, Kohlman, Wernick,
Artress, Woollam, Cross and Keen while the Empire First Class Badge went to Cadet R.
Nelson
The team in this division was composed of: Lt. R. Samol, Sgt. B. Palmer; Sgt. T. Kohlman;
Cpl. A. Byrnand; Cpl. J. Cross; Cadets T. Artress; K. Clark, E. Halvarsen; W. Keen; R.
Nelson; H. Woollam and F. Wernick.
The Strathcona Trust Competition for 1957 found the Enderby Corp winners of the Interior
Division for the third time. They rated second best in BC and were beaten only by the 22
Sqn. Air Force Cadets of V.I. All members of the following team received Strathcona medals
for being in the top 15 of the division. Lt. R. Samol; S.Sgt. B. Palmer; Sgt. T. Kohlman;
Cpl. J. Cross; Cadet H. Woollam and Cadet H. Wernick.
Sgt. T. Kohlman was the winner of the Strathcona Best Shot Badge for being the best scorer
on the team.
Corps strength increased to 31.
- December 6, 1957 ~ Enderby Cadets To Conduct Annual Turkey Shoot
- The strength of the Enderby Cadet Corps has doubled over the
1957 season which will give a better and more interesting program. The Turkey shoot will
be held in the Drill Hall Dec. 15th.
- May 2, 1958 ~ The Enderby RMR Cadets Win I.O.D.E. Cup
- The Enderby RMR placed second in a province wide competition
for the 1958 I.O.D.E. Challenge Cup.
- August 11, 1962
- Laurie Jack of Enderby participated in the Army's Riding
Mountain National Park campsite in Manitoba.
- March 1, 1963 ~ Large Number Witness Annual Cadet Inspection
- 1695 Armstrong Cadets from Armstrong, Enderby and Falkland
gathered at the Armstrong Armouries for inspection by Maj. W. Harris. Maj. W. Harris
presented many awards for swimming and shooting as well as the normal promotions and
awards. Parents tested their shooting skills against their sons in the shooting range.
- May 24, 1964 ~ Class Award Winners at Annual Cadet Inspection
- Armstrong Mayor J.M. Jamieson presents class awards. 1st
Class Award winner, Cadet Sgt-Major Brian Shelley of Armstrong, 2nd Class Award winner
Cadet Cpl. Inskip of Falkland and 3rd Class Award winner Cadet Klym of Enderby.
- December 6, 1981 ~ 847 Gemini Squadron to disband
- The 847 Gemini Squadron of Air Cadets which serves Enderby
and Armstrong will disband at the end of December according to a release by Squadron
Captain Vic Polichek. The present strength of 17 is not adequate to justify the squadron
continuing operation as per regulations laid down by Pacific Region Air Cadet Headquarters
in Victoria which sets the minimum at 30 members.
The Squadron started in September 1975 with 55 members. The Vernon Air Cadet Squadron,
#223, Red Lion Squadron under Capt. Bob Hoare have agreed to accept transfers.
- August 7, 1985 ~ White Water Camp for young cadets
- Platoons of Vernon Army Cadet Camp cadets stay at Kingfisher
Ball park to learn a number of survival techniques including white water canoeing. Each
Platoon stays for three days under the guidance of Ross Powell, Officer of White Water
Canoeing. There are six instructors, two safety boats, three military drivers and one
supply technician
- October 5, 1988
- Two Enderby cadets from the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets Corps
(RCSCC) Kalamalka (#63) Vernon, BC were chosen to attend "summer camp".
The first "Ordinary Cadet" Collin Kjelgren, attended camp at HMCS Quadra, Comox,
BC. Kjelgren learned basic marksmanship, basic drill, basic guard drill and also how to
interact with his shipmates as a team.
The second cadet was Petty Officer 2nd Class (PO2) Jerrod Hutching. He attended a six week
specialized course called "Submariner" at HMCS at Mic Mac, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Hutchings course taught him most of the basic functions of the equipment on Canada's
"O" class submarines.
- Other Enderby cadets include: Heather Lobb (OC), Ebony Lobb
(OC), Sherry Crombie (NE), C. Morris (NE), Debbie Case (NE) and Jamie Dekker also a new
entry.
