First Arena

Enderby's first skating rink was built in November 1904 on Baird Street near the Enderby Brickyard and Shuswap River.  It was an open ice rink built by A.M. Baird:

"The building will be 130 x 60 feet, with sloping roof, arched within, no pillars to run into and no awkward corners to get out of. He will build a curling rink 130 x 14, leaving the hockey rink 130 x 46 feet. A 10-foot dressing room will be built along the front of the building and above this the grand stand and spectators' balcony."  J. Jonston was given the contract to put a roof on it.

The first carnival under the roof was held on Feb. 22, 1905. A second carnival was held on Oct. 25,1905. The first curling club was organized at this carnival. There were admission fees at the gate if you didn't have season tickets. This skating rink was the first in the Okanagan.
