Terry Fergus

Mayor, 1986-1992

Terry Fergus imigrated to Canada in 1957, from England, and moved to Enderby in 1979. He and his wife were the owners of Fergies Confectionary until 1991. Being a merchant, Mr. Fergus was interested in the revitilization of Enderby. He has served as mayor of Enderby from November 1985-1992. The first term he ran against Dick Staffen, and the second, (which he was not planning on entering), was achieved by acclamation.

Mayor Fergus sees Mr. VanderZalm as an inspiration, from when he was Mayor of Surrey. Fergus wants to keep Enderby a small community with a growth. In his last term as mayor he hopes to open the Enderby Cliffs as a Park area, and keep taxes down to a minimum.

On Mr. Fergus' achievment as a mayor, he sums it up as thus "Basically while I've been here, I am quite happy with what "we've" achieved". Mr. Fergus hopes to see somone come along with new ideas and do a better job than he.
