Enderby Christian School

5334copy.jpg (13424 bytes)The Enderby Christian School was started in 1977 when the children were taught in the Enderby Evangelical Chapel. When the school started out it had 60 students in attendance. Eventually, however, the church grew too small for the growing school, and was expanded with the purchase of the Cliffview Building in 1988. The building was a used office building, which made it almost ideal for a school. The spacious building has eight classrooms, three pastor's studies, a kitchen and sewing room, and various other rooms, one of which hosts the Men's Breakfasts and Morning Out for Moms program.

During the 1989-90 school year, eight people were employed: six teachers, a principal, and a secretary, who is presently Hellen Tulak. The first principal of the Enderby Christian School was Harold Carlaw, who stayed with the school from 1977-1981. Alan Armbruster then stepped into Mr. Carlaw's shoes, and took over until 1982. Roy Campbell became the new principal and remained with the school until 1986, when Ray Porteous took over until our current principal, Michael Wilson, took over in 1988.

This school is unique in that it teaches a regular British Columbia curriculum, while teaching its own Bible classes. For example, no evolution is taught, and this idea is replaced with Christianity's belief of creation.

This school teaches with a much needed Christian emphasis, and is changing many students' lives for the better.
